Jon Clenton

Jon Clenton is a Professor of Applied Linguistics at Hiroshima University since April 2015, focusing on research and lecturing in the field. Previously, Clenton served as a Lecturer in Applied Linguistics at the University of Reading, where the emphasis was on Vocabulary Acquisition. Prior to this role, Clenton held a position as a Professor and course leader at Osaka University, specializing in Vocabulary Acquisition. Early career experiences include roles as an ESP and EAP tutor at various institutions, including Sumikin Intercom, British Council, University of Sussex, and Language Resources. Clenton's educational background includes a PhD from Swansea University, a Diploma in TESOL from Trinity College London, an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sussex, and a BA (Hons) in Communication Studies from Sheffield Polytechnic.
