Jason Torreano has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Jason is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Inkululeko, Inc., where they collaborate with colleagues in South Africa and Kenya to support township youth. Jason also works with donors and establishes partnerships with non-profit entities. Additionally, Jason has worked as the Director of Development and Communications at Hiscock Legal Aid Society, where they remotely support the President and CEO and engages with donors. Jason has also served as a faculty instructor and adjunct faculty instructor at Bloomfield College, teaching courses and leading students in projects related to Inkululeko's work. Jason has been an Adjunct Instructor at Syracuse University, teaching courses and collaborating on symposia related to topics in South Africa and Syracuse. Jason was a Peace Fellow at Rotary International, studying peace and conflict resolution. Jason also worked at Global Youth Connect as the Executive Director, planning international engagements and securing foundation support. Prior to that, Jason worked as a Fundraising and Development Coordinator at Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare and as an Anchor/Multi-Media Journalist at YNN Buffalo. Jason also had roles at Center for Community Alternatives, Mentor Recruitment and KXMB-TV/Reiten Television as an Anchor/Reporter.
Jason Torreano completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from SUNY Brockport in the years 2003 to 2007. Jason then pursued their education at Rhodes University from 2006 to 2008, focusing on Political Science and History, although they did not obtain a degree from this institution. Jason later enrolled at SUNY Empire State College and obtained a Masters degree in Non-Profit Management between 2010 and 2013.

At Hiscock Legal Aid Society (HLA), we are dedicated to the principle that no one in Onondaga County shall be denied justice because of a lack of means. HLA, founded in 1949, promotes the fundamental right of every person to equal justice under the law. We provide high quality legal assistance to individuals and families in Onondaga County and the surrounding region. Our practice areas cover a variety of immigration matters, mandated family court cases, divorce, domestic violence, housing, unemployment, appeals, parole revocation, and extradition. We work collaboratively with other legal assistance and human service providers to develop innovative ways to provide needed services to the maximum number of people in our community. In the last 18 months, we’ve handled more than 10,000 cases and impacted more than 14,000 people.
