Craig Marshall has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Starting in 1997, they worked as a Graduate Trainee and Audit Senior at Robson Rhodes, gaining experience in auditing and assurance for public and private sector clients. Craig then joined Energis PLC in 2001 as a Financial Analyst, focusing on costing commercial proposals and financial modeling for internet hosting. In 2002, they transitioned to Hays Logistics as a Corporate Analyst.

Moving into the healthcare sector, Marshall joined NHS National Services Scotland in 2003, where they held various roles including Associate Director of Finance and Head of Corporate Planning. Craig'sresponsibilities included financial planning, management reporting, financial governance, and business partnering. At Edinburgh Napier University, Marshall served as the Assistant Director of Finance from 2015 to 2017. In this role, they were responsible for financial management information and oversaw the consolidation of two teams into one. Craig also implemented automation of management reports and optimized VAT treatment of major capital purchases.

Marshall then moved on to become the Head of Financial Business Support at Historic Environment Scotland in 2018.
