Deputy Head Of Designations (strategy) at Historic Environment Scotland

Philip Robertson has a diverse work experience. philip started their career as a Self Employed individual in 1992 and later became the Proprietor of Lochaline Dive Centre in 1996. During this period, they provided dive tourism and consultancy services in marine archaeology. philip also held the position of Scottish Training Officer for the Nautical Archaeology Society, providing training and outreach activities in underwater archaeology across Scotland. In 2005, they joined Historic Scotland as an Inspector of ancient monuments and later became the Senior Inspector of Marine Archaeology in 2007. In this role, they developed historic environment policy and strategies related to the marine historic environment. philip also provided advice on marine heritage issues. From 2012 to 2015, Philip served as the Deputy Head of Scheduling at Historic Scotland, responsible for designation, management advice, and operational management of nationally important monuments. In 2015, they joined Historic Environment Scotland as the Deputy Head of Designations, focusing on inventories and marine.

Philip Robertson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from the University of Bristol in 1991. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Maritime Studies from the University of St Andrews, which they completed in 1994.
