Mariyam Shah has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Mariyam started their career in 2005 as a Solution Design and Delivery Professional at IBM. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Branch Data Administrator at Future Electronics. In 2008, they joined AkzoNobel as an Order processing Administrator. Mariyam then moved to Pitney Bowes in 2009, where they served as a Customer Contact Co-Ordinator. From 2012 to 2016, they worked at Cetec-ISC Ltd as a Project Delivery Lead. In 2016, they joined Kingston University as an Operations Support Lead and worked until 2018. Currently, they are employed at Historic Royal Palaces as a Project Support Officer, a role they started in February 2022. Prior to this, they held the positions of Business Support Executive and Executive Assistant to Retail & Catering Director at the same organization.

Mariyam Shah earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management in Marketing from Brunel University London, graduating in 2007. Mariyam also obtained additional certifications including the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) from the Association for Project Management in January 2023, the APM Associate certification from the Association for Project Management in October 2022, and the Project Manager: Project Management certification from Procore Technologies in March 2022.
