Pragyansmita Nayak has extensive work experience in various roles related to data science, analytics, and thought leadership activities.

From 2017 to 2018, Nayak worked as a Principal Research Engineer at Apogee Research, LLC.

In 2018, Nayak joined Hitachi Vantara Federal as the Chief Data Scientist. In this role, they were responsible for architecting data-driven decision intelligence solutions for various defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies. Pragyansmita Nayak obtained a Ph.D. degree in Computational Sciences and Informatics from George Mason University from 2003 to 2015. In 2019, they completed a program in Applied Machine Learning (EMC0119) at Columbia Engineering Executive Education, specializing in Machine Learning Statistical Foundations with Python Applications. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2003, they pursued an M.S. (Research) in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. In 1995, they graduated with a B.E. (Hons) degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

Additionally, Pragyansmita Nayak completed various online courses or MOOCs. From 2013 to 2015, they enrolled in Coursera MOOCs, and they also engaged in other MOOCs. In 2019, they earned CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credits in various fields.
