Richard Coel

Richard Coel currently serves as the Senior Counsel and Litigation Lead for the Americas at Hitachi Rail since November 2023. Prior experience includes a tenure as Senior Counsel at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from November 2017 to November 2023 and as an Associate in Commercial Litigation at LeClairRyan from January 2016 to November 2017. Richard's legal career began as an Associate at Macleay, Lynch & Lapidus, P.C. (September 2012 - December 2015) and included a position in the Commercial Litigation Department at Stein Sperling (January 2010 - August 2012). Additional roles include Law Clerk and Legal Assistant positions, as well as serving as a Teaching Fellow for the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. Richard obtained a Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law (2006 - 2009) and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and History from The University of Texas at Austin (2003 - 2006).
