Kyle McKenzie

Kyle McKenzie has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Kyle is currently the Vice President of Engineering at HIVERY, a position they have held since January 2023. Previously, from September 2020 to January 2023, they worked at Fabric as a Lead Software Engineer, where they successfully developed and delivered the XM headless CMS product.

Prior to that, in September 2019, Kyle became the Co-Lead at Facebook Developer Circle: Vancouver, where they actively contributed to the developer community by organizing and running events. From September 2019 to February 2020, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead at Loop Insights.

In 2018, Kyle was a Lead Full Stack Developer at Motion Metrics, where they played a key role in designing and deploying AWS architecture and infrastructure for Wear Monitoring and an embedded device. Kyle also served as a mentor to other developers and focused on code quality and unit testing. Before that, they worked on designing a user interface and setting up third-party authentication at Motion Metrics as a Full Stack Developer.

In 2017, Kyle worked as a Software Engineer at Fortinet. Kyle also has experience working as a Consultant at Ryan, where they developed automated data aggregation solutions and handled large datasets using SQL and Python. Additionally, they interned at Ryan in the Sales and Use Tax department, providing support to Oil and Gas Industry clients.

Kyle took a break from their career in 2018 to care for their mother, who was in the late stages of ALS.

Kyle McKenzie attended York University and graduated in 2014 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Kyle was also on the Dean's Honour Roll during their time at York University. In 2016, Kyle obtained a Full Stack Web Development Certification from freeCodeCamp. Additionally, they earned a Big Data Hadoop Foundations certification from IBM in May 2016. Kyle also has a certification called "Shaping up with Angular.js" from Code School, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
