Assemblyman Dan Benson currently represents the 14th Legislative District in the NJ State Legislature. Dan first joined the Assembly in 2011 and currently serves as the Chair of the Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, as a member of the Health and Budget Committees, in addition to being Deputy Conference Leader. He represents towns in Mercer and Middlesex Counties. Prior to joining the Legislature, Dan served as a County Freeholder (now County Commissioner) in Mercer County and as Council President in his hometown of Hamilton.
Dan is a utility and telecommunications policy consultant with over 20 years of experience in the private sector, currently working as a contractor for Ericsson in Piscataway. He has a Bachelor of Science in physics and government from Georgetown University and a Master of Public Policy in science and technology policy from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University (1999). Dan received the Bloustein School Alumni Association’s Young Alum of the Year award in 2013.
In the community Dan is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, serving as the community Key Club advisor to various high schools. He also serves as Treasurer to the Board of the Henry J. Austin Health Center, an FQHC in Trenton.
