James Mee is an experienced economic advisor currently serving as the Head of Inheritance Tax Analysis at HM Revenue & Customs since May 2019, overseeing a team responsible for providing policy analysis and fiscal forecasts. Prior to this role, James was an Economic & Fiscal Analyst at the Office for Budget Responsibility, contributing to government receipts forecasts and leading sections of key reports. Previously, James held various positions at HM Revenue & Customs, including Assistant Economist roles focused on indirect tax forecasting and personal tax policy analysis. James began a government career as a Student Economist at HM Treasury and gained early experience in finance with roles at JM Finn & Co and Lovewell Blake. Education includes a Master of Science in Economics and Philosophy from The London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Leeds.
