Rick Cardona

VP, Support Operations at Health Network Laboratories

Rick joined HNL Lab Medicine in 2002 as the Director of Logistics. Rick was responsible for developing the strategic plan for the HNL Lab Medicines courier logistics division. Overseeing this division since its inception, Rick has been responsible for growing this organization to its current 129 drivers that log over 2.4 million miles a year. Through Rick’s vision and innovation, today, HNL Lab Medicine’s courier service operates efficiently by utilizing barcode technology, routing, and mapping optimization.

In 2012, Rick was promoted to Administrator of Support Services. Due to HNL Lab Medicine’s significant growth, Rick led the design and subsequent relocation to a new 102,000 sq. ft, state-of-the-art, diagnostics laboratory facility. During his career at HNL Lab Medicine, Rick has been instrumental in providing access to the patients they serve by opening 40 new patient centers.

Before joining HNL Lab Medicine, Rick spent 21 years at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Rick served as Director, of Logistical Support Services for 15 years. Among his many achievements included the implementation and management of a newly created centralized patient transport service, the development, and implementation of organizational-wide supply distribution and logistical support programs, mailroom automation, and printshop services.

Taking a break from the demands of running HNL Lab Medicine facilities and support operations, Rick enjoys spoiling his two dogs, golfing, swimming, pheasant hunting, trap and skeet shooting, and target shooting. In addition, gardening and landscaping are relaxing pastimes.
