Susie Porter has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Starting in 1988, they worked as a Staff Nurse in the Surgical Floor at St. Mary Medical Center. Susie later became an Ortho/Neuro Clinical Coordinator and supervised employees in the specialty group. In 1996, they joined St. Joseph Hospital as a CRNFA and Staff Nurse until 2004. Susie then worked at Orthopaedic Specialty Institute as a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in assisting joint replacement surgeries and providing pre and post-operative patient care. From 2013 to 2019, Susie obtained their FNP-C and CRNFA certifications through the UCLA RNFA certificate program. In 2017, they became the Director of Allied Health Professionals at Hoag Orthopedic Institute. Susie also worked as a Consultant at ETHICON Johnson & Johnson and an Instructor at UCLA Extension, starting in 2023.
Susie Porter has a strong background in nursing education. Susie first attended Long Beach City College from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Nursing. Susie then pursued further studies at California State University-Dominguez Hills from 1991 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nursing. Lastly, they went on to attend the University of Phoenix from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a Master's of Science degree in Nursing.
In addition to their formal education, Susie Porter has also obtained several certifications to further enhance their nursing career. Some of these include the CNOR certification from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI), the CRNFA certification from the National Assistant at Surgery Certification institution, and the FNP-C certification from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
