Mary Alice Holmes, MPA, currently serves as the Marketing Coordinator at Hoar Construction since February 2023, where responsibilities include the creation and presentation of proposals. Prior to this role, Mary Alice held the position of Director of Public Relations and Marketing at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, overseeing social media, collateral design, community outreach, and written publications. Additional experience includes serving as the Community Employment Coordinator at AIDS Alabama Inc, where program development for sustainable employment was a focus. Earlier roles as an intern in public relations at Auburn-Opelika Tourism and Auburn University Honors College involved writing, social media management, and content creation. Mary Alice earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Auburn University.

The story of Hoar Construction is the story of people. It’s individuals, families, communities, all coming together to build places that will truly last, and become a legacy for the generations to come. We have been in business for 80 years, and we’re very proud of that. There aren’t many companies in our industry that have been around this long. During these 80 years, we’ve been able to thrive, grow, and expand. What started out as a small family business is now more than 600 employees strong. Today, we have seven offices in six states and attribute our success to the values our company was founded on. From the beginning, we have had a relentless desire to improve. We constantly seek ways to change not only our own company, but to improve the industry. We saw time and effort being wasted on warranty callbacks, so we created a unique quality control program that is now being used by contractors across the country. We know the biggest problem facing the construction industry is inefficiency, so we work hard to eliminate inefficiency every day. We use creativity and attention to detail to dig deeper than the drawings. We don’t ask, “How do we build this?” We ask, “How do we build this better?”
