Willie Lategan

Willie Lategan has a strong background in the insurance industry, with over 30 years of experience. Willie started their career in 1991 at Sanlam as a Development Actuary and then moved on to Absa Consultants and Actuaries as a Consulting Actuary in 1995. In 2001, they became the Managing Director of Absa Life. Lategan joined Barclays Africa Group Limited in 2007 as the Chief Executive Officer of Wealth, Investment management, and Insurance, a position they held until 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as the Chief Financial Officer for Hollard Insurance before becoming the Chief Executive Officer of the same company in 2017.

Willie Lategan attended Singularity University in 2019, where they studied Innovation. In 2015, they completed a program in High Performance Leadership at IMD, focusing on Organizational Leadership. In the year 2000, Willie pursued a program called AMP at INSEAD. Prior to that, in 1991, they obtained a B Comm(Hons) degree in Actuarial Science from Stellenbosch University. From 1987 to 1989, Willie pursued a Bachelor of Commerce - BCom at the same university. Additionally, in 1994, they obtained a degree in Actuarial Science, called FFA, from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
