Mel Orpen is an accomplished Dub Director at Netflix, specializing in English language dubs for international feature films and TV series since April 2022. With extensive experience in film and video, Orpen has served as a producer, director, and writer at Aikifilm since 2008, providing independent production services for documentaries and narrative projects. Orpen's academic background includes a Master of Fine Arts from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where notable projects include the award-winning thesis short film "Retribution" and "Don't Let Go," both of which garnered multiple festival accolades. Additional experience includes mentorship roles with the Junior Hollywood Radio and Television Society and assisting Emmy Award-winning director Andy Cadiff. Orpen holds a BA from Princeton University in English and Medieval Studies and completed the New Leaders Political Fellowship at the Center for Progressive Leadership.
