Mark Schuppener has a strong background in music education and performance. Mark is currently the Performing Arts Director of Orchestras and Chamber Music at Holton-Arms School. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Fine and Performing Arts at the same school from 2018 to 2022. Mark also worked as the Director of Orchestras at Westminster Christian School in Miami, FL from 2014 to 2018. Mark has held various leadership positions in music organizations, including serving as Executive Vice President of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony from 2014 to 2016. Mark has also worked as a concertmaster for the El Paso Opera and Las Cruces Symphony at NMSU. In addition, Mark has experience conducting as the Conductor of The El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras. Mark began their career in academia as an Assistant Professor of Music at The University of Texas at El Paso from 2009 to 2014.
Mark Schuppener holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance, Pedagogy, Music Theory, and Orchestral Conducting from the University of Michigan, which they obtained from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the same institution from 2001 to 2003. Mark began their academic journey at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from 1997 to 2001.
