Ioannis Raftopoulos

Ioannis Raftopoulos is a seasoned medical professional specializing in bariatric surgery and weight management, currently serving as the Director of the Weight Management program at Holyoke Medical Center since September 2015. In addition, Ioannis holds a position as a Professor of Surgery at Quinnipiac University starting June 2024 and has been the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Metropolitan Hospital in Athens, Greece since December 2013. Academic roles include Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Connecticut since September 2007 and previously Director of the Bariatric Center at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center from August 2007 to November 2013. Initial academic experience includes serving as Assistant Professor of Surgery at UPMC from September 2003 to August 2007. Ioannis completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois Chicago from 1996 to 2002 and earned a Ph.D. in Surgical Oncology from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon between 1995 and 2000.
