Russell Saffell

Russell Saffell serves as the State Adjutant (Executive Director & Chief Operations Officer) for the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Iowa and is the President (CEO)/Board Chair of the Iowa Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation. Saffell holds various leadership positions within the Civil Air Patrol and the Homeland Security Foundation of America, as well as teaching roles at Des Moines Area Community College and Upper Iowa University. Saffell's experience includes a Congressional Fellowship with U.S. Senator Charles Grassley. Educational credentials encompass a Doctoral Executive Certificate and current pursuit of a Ph.D. in Public Policy & Economics from Liberty University, along with a Master’s degree from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency & Disaster Management. Saffell’s training background includes various certifications from Homeland Security and Emergency Management institutes.
