Megan Houppert

Megan joined Home Leasing in 2010 and represents the third generation of the Nelson Leenhouts family. Megan serves as Vice President of Development where she leads her team in seeking new projects, determining financing and feasibility, completing funding applications, monitoring construction and aiding in the transition of new projects from development to property management. Many of Home Leasing’s developments include supportive housing, creating housing opportunities for vulnerable populations including homeless individuals, the previously incarcerated, individuals with developmental disabilities, veterans and more. Megan has worked to build strong strategic relationships with many non-for-profit partners, as well as public and private financing partners including NYSHCR, various municipalities, syndicators and conventional lending institutions.

Prior to joining Home Leasing, Megan worked in social services where the need for affordable and supportive housing was all too evident. Her experience transformed into a passion for creating equitable housing opportunities for people at every income level. Megan has served in various positions at Home Leasing during her tenure, beginning on the property management team and later transitioning to development in 2015 as a Development Manager. She took on the role of Vice President of Development in 2021.

Megan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development and a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. She sits on the Advisory Board of Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach.
