Alan Walsh

Alan Walsh (MBCS) has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry. Alan is currently serving as the Chief Information Officer and Data Protection Officer at HomeLink Healthcare Ltd since March 2021.

From 2015 to 2020, Alan worked at APMG International where they held multiple roles. Alan served as the IT Security Manager where they ensured compliance with ISO 27001 ISMS, Cyber Essentials Plus, and PCI DSS standards. Alan also played a key role in rewriting IT and security policies in line with ISO 27001 and GDPR requirements. Additionally, Alan served as the Information Technology Service Delivery Manager, responsible for delivering IT services to the business and acting as the point of contact for major issues.

Prior to APMG International, Alan worked at MediHome as the Information Systems Manager from 2013 to 2015. Alan was responsible for systems administration, ensuring systems integrity, and managing the integration project during the merger with Healthcare at Home.

Before that, Alan worked at Respect Search & Selection as the IT and Operations Manager, where they provided IT support and managed internal office moves. Alan also worked at Solsis Ltd as a Systems Support Engineer, providing IT support for multiple companies.

Alan's earlier experience includes roles as the Operations and Project Manager at IFX Webdesign, where they managed website development projects and provided IT support. Alan also worked as a Project Leader at Medihome Ltd, leading an MS Exchange 2010 migration project.

Alan's experience also includes roles as a Remote Systems Administrator at Steria, a Server Project Leader at Eli Lilly and Company, and a 3rd Line Systems Admin at 4d Telecom Ltd. In these roles, they provided support for Active Directory environments, implemented server migrations, and maintained change control procedures.

Throughout their career, Alan has consistently demonstrated expertise in IT security, service delivery, systems administration, and project management.

Alan Walsh (MBCS) has a comprehensive education history spanning several years. Alan pursued Physical Sciences from 2006 to 2016 at The Open University, where they are currently still enrolled in the program. Prior to that, they completed their Secondary School education at Terenure College, Dublin from 1972 to 1977, obtaining a Leaving Certificate.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Alan also holds various certifications. Alan acquired the ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification from Advisera Expert Solutions Ltd in February 2021 and the ISO 27001 Internal Auditor certification from the same institution in January 2021. In 2007, they obtained the ITIL v2 Service Delivery certification. Furthermore, Alan holds a Certificate in Mathematics, obtained from The Open University, UK, and a Certificate in Natural Sciences from the same institution, acquired in 2007 and 2006, respectively. Alan also holds the PRINCE2 2009 Practitioner and Foundation certifications from APMG-International, achieved in October 2012 and September 2012, respectively.
