Patrick Porter has a diverse work experience in the aviation industry. Patrick started their career as an F-14 Tomcat Radar Intercept Officer and Department Head in Fighter Squadron ONE FIVE FOUR. Patrick then worked as an Assistant Chief Engineer and Deputy Software Development Lead for the F-14 Program at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). Patrick later joined NAVAIR again as the F-35 Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Lead and as the F-35 Air Vehicle Systems Engineering Integration Team Lead. Patrick also served as a Senior Engineer at MTSI and as a Student at the United States Naval Test Pilot School. Patrick held various positions at Naval Air Systems Command, including the F-35 Lightning II Assistant Program Manager for Test and Evaluation and the Director of Aviation Programs. Before joining Honda Aircraft Company as the Vice President of Flight Test and Flight Operations, they worked at Gulfstream Aerospace in roles such as Production Test Pilot and G600 Flight Test Senior Manager.

Patrick Porter's education history begins in 1984 when they attended the United States Naval Academy. Patrick completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Naval Architecture in 1988. Following this, in 1996, they enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where they pursued a Master of Aeronautical Science, though the field of study is not specified. In 1999, Patrick attended The United States Naval Postgraduate School for an unspecified period. Later, in 2003, they attended the United States Naval Test Pilot School for a term. Lastly, in 2021, they studied at Fight Safety International and obtained a degree in Airline Transport Pilot, specializing in Airline/Commercial/Professional Pilot and Flight Crew.
