Matthew Gionta is an accomplished aerospace engineer with extensive experience in leadership roles across several prominent companies in the aviation industry. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Honda Research Institute USA, Inc. since September 2021, Matthew leads the development of eVTOL aircraft, managing a multidisciplinary team. Prior to this position, Matthew held several key roles at Aerion Supersonic, overseeing the AS2 supersonic jet development as VP Design and Engineering and Deputy Program Manager. At ICON Aircraft, Matthew was the CTO and VP Engineering, guiding the technical development of the ICON A5 and facilitating the company's transformation into a recognized aircraft manufacturer. Earlier in the career, Matthew contributed significantly as VP Engineering at Scaled Composites, leading engineering efforts for various aircraft programs. Matthew holds a BS and MEng in Aerospace Engineering from the University at Buffalo, obtained between 1988 and 1994.
