Eric Stinton

Columnist at Honolulu Civil Beat

Eric Stinton is an accomplished educator and writer with a diverse background in teaching and journalism. Currently serving as a teacher for 7th and 9th grade humanities at Le Jardin Academy and as a lecturer in Magazine Writing at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Eric has also been a columnist for Honolulu Civil Beat since July 2020, focusing on issues pertinent to Hawaii. With extensive freelance writing experience across various publications, Eric has contributed to notable outlets such as Bamboo Ridge and Vice Sports. Additional teaching roles include special education positions at Kailua Intermediate School and Mililani Middle School, along with a significant tenure at DYB Choisun in South Korea. Eric holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Chapman University and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction at Bennington College.
