Bernard van der Stichele

Bernard Van der Stichele is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in insurance-linked securities (ILS) and catastrophe risk management. Currently serving as a Senior Portfolio Manager at HOOPP since February 2020, Bernard also founded Whitebox Analytics Inc. in September 2018. Previous roles include Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Validus Group, Senior Vice President at Guy Carpenter, and Vice President at AQR Capital Management, where Bernard established an ILS investment strategy. Bernard began a career in finance at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, managing the first catastrophe bond portfolio and developing analytical frameworks for risk exposure management. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Biological Oceanography from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Portsmouth.
