Rick Stamper is an experienced social studies educator currently serving as a Social Studies Instructor and Department Chairperson at Hoover City Schools since 2007. In addition to teaching Advanced Placement courses, Rick holds the position of AP Capstone Director and sponsors various organizations, including Amnesty International and the Diversity Council. With a background as a College Board Reader for Advanced Placement courses and a former Alabama Representative for the Southern Regional Council of the College Board, Rick has contributed significantly to educational standards and practices. Previous roles include consulting for Imagine Schools and organizing labor relations for the United Teachers of Dade. Rick's educational qualifications include a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education from Florida International University.

Two decades ago, Hoover City Schools began independent of Jefferson County with one high school, one middle school and five elementary schools. Our student population then, in 1988, was around 5000. Now, we're a system of 17 schools with a student population that topped 13,000 in August 2010.
