Shomari Tate

Shomari Tate is a seasoned leader in ministry and nonprofit sectors, currently serving as the Chaplain of Prophetic Witness at Hope College since September 2021, where efforts focus on cultivating a healthy Christian culture. Additionally, Shomari is the Teaching Pastor at BLVD Church in Holland, MI, while also founding The Higher Power Initiative LLC, which specializes in cultural competency training related to racial justice. Shomari previously held significant roles such as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and has extensive experience in community outreach, particularly at Michigan State University. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Policy, a Master of Divinity, and a Master’s in Ministry Leadership, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
