John Costello

John Costello has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. John is currently working as a Product Software Development Manager at Horizon Controls Group since March 2021. Prior to that, John worked as an IT Consultant at John P. Costello M.Sc. since November 2014.

In their previous roles, John demonstrated their expertise in the field of software development and engineering. John served as a Senior Software Developer Team Lead at Horizon Innovation Technologies from September 2020 to October 2022. John also worked as a Software Engineer at Insight Centre for Data Analytics UCD in July to September 2018.

From April 2016 to February 2017, John was employed as a Software Engineer / Data Scientist at Insight Centre for Data Analytics, UCD, where they engaged with client companies and stakeholders to develop software solutions for analyzing data from wearable physical activity monitors in a medical context.

Earlier in their career, John held positions as a Control Systems Administrator at Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics from May 2010 to August 2012, an Automation Engineer at Zenith Technologies from November 2006 to May 2010, and a Senior Software Engineer at GMAD Software from March 2003 to June 2006.

John's work experience also includes a role as a Security Software Engineer at Epionet from June 2000 to August 2002, where they focused on developing security for the "Epiowave" SOA platform and implementing bespoke cryptographic solutions using 128-bit AES.

Throughout their career, John Costello has gained extensive knowledge and skills in software development, data analytics, automation engineering, and security.

John Costello received a Master's Degree in Computing (Advanced Software Development) from Technological University Dublin, which they completed from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science from Technological University Dublin, which they earned from 1991 to 1999. In addition to their formal education, John has also obtained several certifications, including Design Patterns with Python, Introduction to Data Analysis with Python, and R Statistics Essential Training, all of which were completed in April 2016 through Lynda.com.
