John Wheeler has extensive work experience in finance, accounting, and leadership roles. John started their career at Ernst & Young as an In-Charge Auditor from 1974 to 1976. John then joined Crown Central Petroleum Corporation, where they served as Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer, responsible for finance, accounting, treasury, taxes, risk management, strategic planning, and budgeting. John was also a member of the Board of Directors at Crown Central. In 2002, they became the Chairman of the Board of Directors at St. Agnes Healthcare. In 2004, John joined MidAtlantic Farm Credit as CFO, managing finance and accounting, taxation, risk management, and planning for this $2.5 billion lender. John also served on various committees within the Farm Credit System. In the same year, they also became an Affiliate Faculty member at Loyola University Maryland.
John Wheeler received their education from various institutions. John began their education at Ryken High School, where they completed their college preparatory studies from 1966 to 1970. Following this, John attended Loyola University Maryland from 1970 to 1974, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Later, they pursued further education at Loyola University Maryland, completing their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance, General from 1979 to 1984.
In addition to their formal education, John obtained several certifications. John became a Certified Public Accountant through the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy in August 1977. Then, in May 2012, they earned the Chartered Global Management Accountant certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
