Danny Shelley was named Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Horry Electric Cooperative in 2019. Danny graduated from Newberry College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He has held a Certified Public Accountant license for more than 30 years, received his Chartered Global Management Accountant designation, and is a graduate of the Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program (MIP).
Danny began his career at Horry Electric Cooperative in February 1992 working in accounting. He was promoted to Office Manager in 1998, Chief Financial Officer in 2005, and Chief Financial Officer/Assistant CEO in 2016.
Shelley’s grandfather, W. Hal King, was one of Horry Electric’s founding 627 charter members. King also served on the original board of trustees. Danny grew up understanding the importance of the electric cooperative to the rural community and has spent his career serving the members of Horry Electric.
