Gregory Phelps MD has extensive experience in medical leadership roles, starting in 2000 as the Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Health Partners. Gregory then went on to serve as the Chief Medical Officer at Hospice of Chattanooga and UT Hospice. In 2021, they took on the role of Medical Director of Covenant Health Palliative Care. Additionally, they worked as a Staff Physician at Anesthesia Medical Alliance of East Tn, PC, focusing on pain and palliative care for chronic pain patients.

Gregory Phelps MD began their education at the College of Charleston, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, General in 1975. Gregory then pursued their medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating in 1979. Later on, in 1986, they attended the Medical College of Wisconsin, obtaining a Master of Public Health. In 2003, they enrolled at Aquinas Institute of Theology, where they completed a Master of Arts degree in Health Care Mission in 2006. Finally, in 2009, they attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine for a Palliative Care Fellowship.
