Richard Russell is the current President & CEO of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Richard has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a focus on hospice care.

Richard began their career in healthcare in 1999, when they joined Gentiva Health Services as an Area Vice President of Operations. In this role, they oversaw all hospice operations in Michigan, Northern Ohio, and Illinois, including administrative, operational, and clinical operations. Richard was responsible for a patient ADC of 600+, and $30MM per year in annual net revenue over 8 business units (5 distinct provider numbers) and 2 freestanding Inpatient Units.

In 2014, Richard left Gentiva to co-found Pilgrimage Health Care, LLC d/b/a Pilgrimage Hospice. Richard was responsible for establishing the company from the ground up, and developing the first location – a Community-Based Hospice Agency. Richard successfully achieved Certification for Participation in the Medicare program via a deficiency-free initial survey.

In 2015, Richard left Pilgrimage to join Compassus-Greater Ohio as their Executive Director. Richard served in this role for one year before joining ProMedica in 2016 as their General Manager of the Midwest Division and VP of Patient Care Services/CNO of Continuum Services.

Richard has been with Hospice of Northwest Ohio since 2021. Under their leadership, Hospice of Northwest Ohio has become one of the leading hospice providers in the region, committed to providing compassionate care to patients and families dealing with a life-limiting illness.

Richard Russell has a Master of Business Administration from The University of Toledo John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation, a Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Bowling Green State University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from The University of Toledo. Richard also has a Master's Degree in Nursing Administration from the Medical College of Ohio.
