Barry Leonard, CPA, has over 20 years of diverse work experience in finance, accounting, and consulting. Barry most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for Hospice of the Piedmont, leading financial operations. Previously, Barry held the same position at United Way of Forsyth County, overseeing financial management from 2018 to 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Finance at Prism Medical Products, where they set financial direction and developed budgets. Barry also founded Leonard Business Consulting, where they provided accounting, financial reporting, strategic planning, and tax preparation services to small businesses. Earlier in their career, they gained experience in financial management as the CFO and COO at Personal Communication Systems, as well as a Controller at the same company. Additionally, Barry served as the CFO at The Children's Home, managing financial activities and providing guidance to the executive director. Barry began their career as a Senior In-charge Auditor at McGladrey and worked as a Staff Accountant at Daniel Dennis & Company LLP. Barry's expertise lies in financial leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, tax preparation, and cross-functional management.
Barry Leonard, CPA, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University in 1998. Following this, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Finance at the Wake Forest University School of Business, completing it in 2005. In 2018, they furthered their education by completing a Master of Accounting degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
