Daniel Beirão has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Daniel started as a Family Medicine and General Practice Physician at Hospital da Luz in 2016. Daniel also worked as a Guest Assistant and an Investigator at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto.
In 2017, Daniel became a Senior Editor at the Revista Portuguesa de Medicina Geral e Familiar (RPMGF), and in 2018, they founded and served as CEO of Atualizações em MGF.
Daniel has also held various roles at the Instituto da Segurança Social, including Deputy Medical Coordinator and Medical Expert. Daniel has been a Deputy Medical Director and a Medical Advisor at knok healthcare.
Additionally, Daniel has been involved in the academic and professional organizations. Daniel has served as President of the Colégio de Competência em Peritagem Médica da Segurança Social at the Ordem dos Médicos and as a member of the National Jury of the Specialty of Family Medicine and General Practice.
Daniel is currently a member of the Scientific Council at Acta Médica Portuguesa and a Family Medicine and GP Physician at SASUP in the Universidade do Porto.
Daniel Beirão's education history begins in 2005 when they started their integrated Master's degree in Medicine at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto. Daniel completed this degree in 2011. In 2014, they obtained additional certifications in "Introduction to Clinical Neurology" from the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine, and "Health and Society" from HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX.
In 2017, Daniel pursued a Master's degree in Management and Economics of Health Services at FEP U. Porto - Economics and Management. Daniel completed this degree in 2020. During the same year, they also attended Harvard Medical School for a short-term course in "Lifestyle Medicine: Tools for promoting a healthy change."
In 2018 and 2019, Daniel participated in a Portuguese post-graduation course in Social Assurance Medicine at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, focusing on medical expertise in social security recommended by the EUMASS Scientific Committee.
Currently, Daniel is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical and Health Services Research at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, which they started in 2020 and is expected to complete in 2024.
In terms of additional certifications, Daniel obtained the "Fellow in Clinical Leadership" certification from the European Union of Medical Specialists in December 2022. Daniel also obtained the "Competência em Peritagem Médica em Segurança Social" certification from the Ordem dos Médicos in May 2021.
