Lou Bridges

Lou Bridges, MD, PhD, serves as the Physician in Chief and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery since September 2020. Prior to this role, Lou Bridges was the Director of the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham from May 2009 to August 2020. Lou Bridges earned a PhD in Microbiology with a focus on Immunology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham between 1991 and 1995, and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center from 1980 to 1984. The educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Preprofessional Studies from the University of Notre Dame from 1976 to 1980.
