Marieke Leffers has extensive experience in the hospitality and travel industries, currently working at Hostelling International as part of the Work & Travel abroad program since December 2021. Prior roles include a position at RDW focusing on vehicle registration and documentation, as well as various hospitality jobs with Restaurants & Hotels and News Café. Marieke completed a thesis on market research for external business events while interning as a Guest Relations and Duty Management intern at Best Western hotels. Experience also includes service roles at Ni Hao Stadsparkpaviljoen and front office training in Australia. Educational background includes a degree in Event Management and minors in Entrepreneurship and Human Behavior from NHL Stenden, along with a qualification in Travel Management from Noorderpoort.

Hostelling International (HI) is a non-governmental, not-for profit charity based in the UK, representing 62 member associations from all over the world. It is the world’s largest youth membership organisation, it is recognised by UNESCO (United National Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) and Affiliate Member of the UNWTO.
