Albert Kao has extensive work experience in the retail industry. Albert started their career at J.Crew in 1998, where they worked in store planning until 2003. Albert then joined Foot Locker as a planning manager from 2003 to 2004, followed by a role as a planning manager at Ann Taylor from 2004 to 2005. In 2005, they worked as a planning director at Saks Fifth Avenue for a brief period. From 2006 to 2011, Albert served as the director of merchandise planning and allocation at Tommy Hilfiger. Albert then moved to Lucky Brand Jeans as the director of merchandise planning and allocation for the outlet division from 2011 to 2012. Since 2012, Albert has been working at Hot Topic, where they initially served as the vice president of omnichannel inventory. Currently, they hold the position of vice president of CX and analytics, overseeing Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Their Universe.

Albert Kao has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a double major in Economics and Psychology from Rutgers University. Albert also completed a course called "Disruptive Strategy with Clayton Christensen" at Harvard Business School Online in 2020.
