Yi Yao

Yi Yao's work experience begins in 1997 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF, a position they held until 2000. They then became a Postdoctoral Fellow at McMaster University from 2000 to 2001. From 2001 to 2006, Yi Yao worked as a Research Scientist at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. After that, they joined the Therapeutics, Campbell Institute for Cancer Research as a Research Scientist, a role they held from 2006 to 2013. During this time, they were the lead biologist for multiple projects and achieved significant milestones, including FDA approval for one project and successful out-licensing of another. In 2013, Yi Yao joined AstraZeneca as a Sr. Scientist and later became an Associate Principal Scientist, working there until 2021. Finally, in 2021, they joined HotSpot Therapeutics, Inc. as a Director.

Yi Yao has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the Institute of Biophysics. Prior to that, they earned an M.Sc in Immunology and Microbiology from Peking Union of Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Science. Yi Yao also holds a B.Sc in Biology from East China Normal University.
