Lawrence K. Fish

Lawrence K. Fish is the current Director and Chairman of the Board at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Lawrence was previously the CEO, President, and Chairman at Citizens Financial Group, Inc. from January 1992 to December 2008. During their time at Citizens Financial Group, they grew the company to be one of the 20 largest commercial bank holding companies in the United States and the third most profitable company in New England.

Prior to their work at Citizens Financial Group, Lawrence served as the Chairman, President, and CEO at Bank of New England from January 1992 to December 1992. Lawrence also worked as Head of Asia Pacific at Bank of Boston from January 1972 to December 1992 where they ran operations in Brazil, Japan, and the Asia-Pacific Region. Lawrence was also Executive Vice President Trust and Investment Management and group executive in charge of New England banking.

Before their work in the banking industry, Lawrence served as Chief of Industry Division at USAID from January 1969 to December 1972.

Lawrence K. Fish received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School, and honorary degrees from Drake University, Bryant University, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College, Roger Williams University, and UMass Boston.
