Josh Funder has had a long and varied career in business and public service. In 2016, they became the CEO and Managing Director of Household Capital, a specialist retirement funding provider. In 2015, they were the Author for Watson's Pier and in the same year, they joined the Biotech & Life Sciences Investment Committee at Return On Science. In 2013, they became a Director at Gowrie Victoria and in 2010, they joined the John Button Foundation as a Director. In 2008, they became a Director at Spinifex Pharmaceuticals Inc. and in 2007, they were the President of the Australian Labor Party in Richmond. In 2005, they co-founded Per Capita Australia and was the former Chairman. In 2022, they joined Breakthrough Victoria as a Director.

Josh Funder's education history includes a D.Phil in Law from the University of Oxford (1996-2000), a D.Phil in Biotechnology Intellectual Property from the Max Planck Institute (1999), an LLM in International Commercial Law from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) (1995-1996), an LLB (Hons) BSc. (Hons) in Law and Science from the University of Melbourne (1990-1995), and a VCE from Trinity Grammar School (1983-1989).
