Housing Action Illinois
Sharon Legenza is an experienced legal and nonprofit executive with a focus on housing rights and civil liberties. Since July 2008, Sharon serves as the Executive Director of Housing Action Illinois, where the mission centers on increasing and preserving affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households. Prior roles include Interim Executive Director and Prisoner Rights Attorney at the ACLU of Alaska, Of Counsel at Miner Barnhill & Galland, Fair Housing Project Director and Staff Attorney at the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and Associate at Sidley Austin. Sharon holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago.

Housing Action Illinois is a statewide coalition working to make sure everyone in Illinois has a safe, affordable place to call home. Our members include housing counseling agencies, homeless service providers, developers of affordable housing and policymakers. These organizations serve low- and moderate-income households, helping to provide a place to call home, thereby strengthening the community at large.
