Aaron Adelstein

Director at HOUSING HOPE

Aaron Adelstein is the current Director at HOUSING HOPE. Prior to this position, they served as the Executive Director at Built Green from November 2005 to May 2014. During their time at Built Green, Aaron led the program to win National Green Building Program of the Year twice. Aaron also grew the program to save over 25M pounds in CO2 emissions annually (study by City of Seattle). In addition, Aaron developed diverse revenue streams that enabled the organization to operate with a two-year cash reserve and sustained, consistent income. Aaron became the predominant certification program in the market with 70% of new residential construction in Seattle and 30% of Puget Sound market certified annually (2018). Furthermore, they developed and executed all marketing and public relations plans. Lastly, they wrote three successful grants for county and state funds totaling $1M to support sustainability initiatives.

In addition to their work at Built Green, Aaron has also served on numerous boards and task forces to help establish effective public policy decisions, advocacy, and community relationships. Aaron has spoken at local and national conferences on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Aaron Adelstein has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder in Environmental Studies and a Masters of Science from the University of Montana in Environmental Policy with a focus in Green Building.
