Edgar Veliz

Edgar Veliz has a diverse work experience encompassing various roles in communications, media relations, and sports. Edgar began their career as a Sports Intern at the Houston Chronicle in 2011, where they maintained and edited content for the newspaper's website. Edgar further gained experience as a Reporter for The Daily Cougar, covering university events and interviewing athletes and coaches.

Veliz then joined ESPN Deportes as a Social Media Intern, where they expanded and cultivated the network's social media presence. Edgar also created a press releases database for professional teams and produced promotional videos. Additionally, they worked as an Assistant Sports Editor for The Overtime Page, where they developed the sports subsidiary of the organization, recruited and trained new members, and established relationships with local sports teams.

Continuing their career in the field, Veliz served as a Communications Intern at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Edgar created video content, drafted press releases, and monitored media coverage. Edgar then joined NASCAR/Taylor Strategy as a Public Relations Intern, drafting reports and coordinating media tours. Veliz also worked as a Media Relations Specialist and Assistant at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, generating media placements, creating digital content, and managing social media platforms.

In 2014, Veliz joined the Houston Texans as a Gameday Media Runner, assisting with press box setup, distributing materials, and recording post-game interviews. Edgar then transitioned to the Houston Dynamo Football Club, first as a Communications Coordinator and later as a Communications Manager. In these roles, they contributed to player contracts, game day tasks, and reports. Edgar also supervised training sessions and coordinated travel and requests for visiting teams. Currently, they serve as the Director of Communications for the Houston Dynamo Football Club.

Edgar Veliz attended Westbury High School from 2004 to 2008, where they received their High School Degree. Edgar then went on to attend the University of Houston from 2008 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs.
