Jonathan Cortez

Jonathan Cortez is currently serving as a Data Science and Visualization Coordinator 1 at Houston ISD since September 2023. Prior to this role, Cortez worked as a Project Manager at NEI Electric Power Engineering Inc from August 2020 to November 2022, and as an Electrical Engineer at Halker Consulting LLC from July 2018 to August 2020. Cortez gained substantial experience in consulting at Salient Power Engineering LLC from March 2017 to July 2018, completing multiple field assignments and projects while enhancing skills in design and project management. Cortez's earlier experience includes a position as an Electrical Engineer at Burns & McDonnell from May 2013 to July 2016, focusing on protection and control solutions for utility substations, and as a Research & Development Engineer Intern at National Oilwell Varco in early 2013, contributing to the design of electrical components and automation processes. Cortez holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, completed in 2013.
