Anton Banta

Anton Banta PhD is a Biotechnology Engineer specializing in machine learning and neuroprosthetics at Houston Methodist since December 2023. Responsibilities include designing and refining machine learning and statistical applications for large clinical and preclinical datasets, contributing to the development of neural prosthetics under the direction of Neurosurgery leadership. Prior to this role, Anton completed a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, where also served as an AI PhD Summer Intern at Sensorum Health and worked as a Data Scientist at Insai, developing deep-learning algorithms for brain connectivity analysis. Early experience includes a Project Engineering Internship at the Matthew McGinley Neuro-Engineering Lab and undergraduate research at the Junghae Suh Synthetic Virology Lab, focusing on adeno-associated viruses. Anton holds a Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Rice University.
