Deborah Cannon is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as the Director of Houston Parks Board since January 2021, Deborah also holds board memberships with the Memorial Hermann Accountable Care Organization and the National Association of Corporate Directors Tri Cities Chapter. As a Director at Cadence Bank since April 2015, Deborah's prior executive experience includes serving as Director at Deltic Timber Co. and as President and CEO of the Houston Zoo, where significant growth in attendance and revenues was achieved. Deborah's career began at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where a 30-year tenure culminated in the role of Executive Vice President and Houston Area President, managing a substantial banking portfolio. Deborah holds a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University and has furthered education at Georgetown University.

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing access to quality parks and greenspace for all people, Houston Parks Board creates, improves, protects and advocates for parkland in the Greater Houston region. Since 1976, the organization has utilized public-private partnerships and its extensive philanthropic, government and community relationships to improve parks large and small. Houston Parks Board is currently leading the transformational $220 million Bayou Greenways 2020 project to create a 150-mile network of connected parks and trails along Houston’s major waterways.
