Carla Pumphrey

Carla Pumphrey, MD, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as Chief of Staff at Howard Memorial Hospital Home Health since March 2023. Prior to this, they held the same position temporarily in March 2023. Before joining Howard Memorial Hospital Home Health, they worked at Howard Memorial Hospital, where they served as the Medical Director and a Hospitalist since June 2021. Carla also held the position of Vice Chief of Staff from March 2022 to March 2023. Previous to their time at Howard Memorial Hospital, Dr. Pumphrey worked as a Hospitalist at JRMC from July 2017 to June 2021. Carla also gained experience as a Chief Resident Physician at UAMS South Central and JRMC from June 2016 to June 2017. Carla began their medical career as a Resident Physician at UAMS - University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from July 2014 to June 2017.

Carla Pumphrey, MD, Ph.D. obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences between 1989 and 1995. Carla later pursued their medical education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, earning their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from 2009 to 2013.
