Astrid Almkvist has a diverse work experience with a focus on environmental and animal welfare. Astrid currently works as a Project Manager for Environmental Permits at Turn Energy since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Länsstyrelsen Stockholm as an Environmental Officer from April 2021 to December 2022 and as an Animal Welfare Officer from December 2018 to April 2021. Astrid also had a brief role as an Animal Welfare Officer at Länsstyrelsen Gävleborg from August 2018 to December 2018. In addition, Astrid worked as a freelancer at SLU - Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet from September 2017 to August 2018. Earlier in their career, they gained experience as a Store Assistant at Ica Kvantum Knivsta from 2014 to 2018, a Stable Hand and Student at Gunilla Byström Dressage Stable in 2008-2009, and as a Riding Instructor and Stable Staff at Äppelvikens Riding School from 2006 to 2008.
Astrid Almkvist began their education in 2004 by completing the "Ungdomsledarutbildning" program at the Svenska Ridsportförbundet. In 2007, they then went on to earn a degree in "Ridledarutbildning" from the same institution, Strömsholm. Continuing their education, Astrid Almkvist attended Stockholm University from 2009 to 2010, where they focused on "Biologi" and completed 60 credid hours. From 2011 to 2012, they studied "Psykologi" at Stockholm University, accumulating 60 credit hours. Lastly, Astrid Almkvist pursued their MSc at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, specializing in Animal Science, from 2012 to 2018.
