Brandon Mickelson, PE, has a diverse work experience in civil engineering and project management. Brandon started their career as a High School Intern at OPN Architects in 2007. Brandon then worked as a Painter at Linn Mar Community Schools from 2008 to 2009. In 2010, they served as a Manual Counter at Anderson Bogert Engineers & Surveyors for a short period. In 2011, they worked as a Manual Counter/Recorder Operator at the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Brandon's professional engineering journey began in 2012 as a Public Works Intern at the City of Ankeny. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as a Staff Engineer at Strand Associates, primarily focusing on municipal engineering projects, such as sewer evaluations, utility mapping, and hydrology and hydraulics.
In 2016, Brandon joined HR Green, Inc. as a Project Engineer, providing municipal engineering services to local governments in the Midwest, California, and Texas. Brandon specialized in staff augmentation and consulting services for administration, engineering, public works, planning, and building departments.
In 2020, Brandon became a Civil Engineer at the City of Clive, Iowa, handling public infrastructure projects from concept to construction. Brandon was responsible for managing projects and modifying civil engineering plan specifications.
Currently, since September 2022, Brandon serves as a Project Manager at HR Green, Inc. Their role involves overseeing projects for local government agencies, including reconstruction projects, roadway and utility design, ADA transition plans, pavement management, utility asset management, and construction administration.
Brandon Mickelson, PE completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University, where they attended from 2008 to 2013. After graduating, they obtained their Engineer Intern certification in May 2013 from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. In January 2014, they also acquired the Illinois DOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Continuing their professional development, Brandon obtained the Iowa Certified SWPPP Designer certification from the Iowa Stormwater Education Partnership in March 2017. Finally, in December 2017, they achieved the Professional Engineer designation from the State of Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examining Board.
