Great architecture has the power to change the trajectory of city blocks and even entire neighborhoods. As president of HCI Architecture, Roger Freibert manages HRI Properties’ internal architecture teams, ensuring the successful design and implementation of key projects for both HRI and external clients. Whether it’s multifamily residential, senior residential, hospitality, parking, or retail, Roger and his team treat every project as an opportunity. Together, they capitalize on a project’s location, history, and intended use to create something truly inspiring.
In 2018, Roger became president of HCI Architecture after leading its teams for more than 22 years, and his résumé is full of transformative design projects. He applied new urbanist principles at River Garden and Bienville Basin, which involved turning more than 80 acres of once-depressed New Orleans real estate into vibrant new communities. His hotel credits include a Courtyard by Marriott, a Residence Inn by Marriott, and the Hyatt Place Convention Center. In New Orleans, Roger is known for the Aloysius Apartments and G. O. Mondy School Apartments as well as the Federal City Parking and Retail Complex, among other properties. His architecture career includes projects spanning the financial, hospitality, and healthcare industries with New Orleans’ foremost architecture firms and builders.
A registered architect in the states of Louisiana, Florida, and Pennsylvania, he earned his B.A. in architecture at Louisiana State University. Roger’s professional affiliations are as impressive as his résumé. He belongs to the American Institute of Architects, Louisiana Landmarks Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and on the Board of Directors for the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans. He’s also an active member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and the Building Officials Association of Louisiana.
