Alan Tran

Quantum Information Scientist at HRL Laboratories

Alan Tran has professional experience in the field of quantum information science. Alan is currently working as a Quantum Information Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC since 2021. Alan previously worked at Microsoft as a Consulting Researcher from February 2020 to August 2020, and from May 2018 to May 2019. During their time at Microsoft, they focused on the optimal synthesis of measurement-only gates and surface code operations, as well as the characterization and benchmarking of measurement-only Majorana qubits. Alan also developed code in Julia, JavaScript, Mathematica, and Python for simulation, analysis, and visualization purposes. Before their roles at Microsoft, Alan was a Research Intern at HRL Laboratories, LLC from June 2019 to September 2019, where they worked on spectral inversion techniques for triple-dot, exchange-only spin qubits using decoupling pulse sequences.

Alan Tran received their Bachelor's Degree in Physics from UCLA in 2014. Alan then pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics at UC Santa Barbara from 2014 to 2020.
